Blaze Bayley to record Classical EP

British heavy metal singer Blaze Bayley (IRON MAIDEN, WOLFSBANE) is working on songs for a new classical EP with Belgium-based classical guitarist Thomas Zwijsen. The five-song effort will include a "full classical guitar arrangement" of the IRON MAIDEN song "Sign Of The Cross", which the duo performed on their recent U.K. acoustic tour (see video below).
Bruce Dickinson competes in Grasmere sport's guides race

According to The Westmorland Gazette, IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson took part this past Sunday in the Grasmere Sport's Guides Race in England — where he came 161st out of 181. Bruce lined up with MAIDEN guitarist Dave Murray's daughter Tasha for the event, which he completed in 26 minutes and 21 seconds.

MAIDEN UNITED, the all-acoustic IRON MAIDEN tribute project featuring Damian Wilson (THRESHOLD, HEADSPACE) and Ruud Jolie (WITHIN TEMPTATION), will release its new album, "Across The Seventh Sea", on September 28 on CD, iTunes and limited-edition black-and-blue transparent vinyl.

"Hollow's Gathering" features guest appearances by Tim "Ripper" Owens (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH), Blaze Bayley (WOLFSBANE, IRON MAIDEN), Michael Vescera (OBSESSION, LOUDNESS, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN), Amanda Sommerville (TRILLIUM, AVANTASIA), Markus Grosskopf (HELLOWEEN) and many others. The album was mixed by Matt Smith (THEOCRACY) and mastered by Miro at the Gate studio (AVANTASIA, KAMELOT, RHAPSODY) in Wolfsburg, Germany. The artwork was created by Felipe Machado Franco (BLIND GUARDIAN, RHAPSODY OF FIRE, ICED EARTH).

IRON MAIDEN founder Steve Harris' debut solo/side project album, "British Lion", will be released in the U.S. on September 25 via Universal Music Enterprises (UMe). Mixed by Kevin Shirley — whose credits include IRON MAIDEN as well as Led ZEPPELIN, JOURNEY and RUSH, among many others — the CD, which features Harris alongside vocalist Richard Taylor, guitarists Graham Leslie and David Hawkins and drummer Simon Dawson, presents a different side of the bassist's musical visions.

British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN established the Clive Burr MS Trust Fund in 2002 to benefit their former drummer, Clive Burr, who is suffering from multiple sclerosis — a disease of unknown cause. The disorder is causing him intermittent numbness and can affect his balance.
